Kick Start Your Day With Lemon Water

I found the best way to kick start my morning is with a warm glass of lemon water. I know it doesn’t sound like something that will perk you up, but trust me; one glass in the morning will get you going!

This simple drink has become a daily routine for me and gives me a good start to the day; it is a great way to wake up my body and my digestive system. It is very inexpensive to make, aids in digestion, keeps skin glowing and can even help you lose weight.

In addition it feels nice when we incorporate new ritual into our lives that brings us health.

For centuries lemons have been known for their healthy properties. They have antibacterial and antiviral action and are also a rich source of the immune boosting vitamin C.

Clean water with lemon provides the body with hydration, antioxidants and electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium.

BENEFITS OF LEMON JUICE:

Helps with digestion

The structure of lemon juice is similar to that of the saliva and hydrochloric acid, which is the main digestive juice in the stomach. Lemon water stimulates the liver to produce bile, which is needed in digestion. It also helps relieve symptoms of ingestion such as heartburn, burping and bloating.

Detoxifies the body

Lemon water is rich in minerals and vitamins that help to eliminate toxins and other unwanted elements from your body and digestive system. Citric acid in lemons helps to increase the function of the enzymes that stimulate and detoxify the liver.

Strengthens the immune system

Lemons are rich in vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C stimulates the production of white blood cells, which is vital for your immune system. Getting enough vitamin C can also help fight colds and flu. Potassium stimulates brain and nervous activity and helps regulate blood pressure.

Balances pH levels

Lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods that help the body to achieve pH balance. Lemons contain citric and ascorbic acid, both easily absorbed by the body. They allow the mineral content of lemons to alkalize the blood.

Drinking lemon water regularly can help to remove overall acidity in the body, including uric acid in the joints, which is one of the primary causes of pain and inflammation.

Rejuvenates the skin

Vitamin C is essential for healthy and radiant skin. The vitamin C found in lemons fight the damage caused by free radicals and helps with the production of collagen which is essential in smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. Regularly consuming lemon water can lead to fresh and supple skin.

Due to its alkaline nature lemon water can also reduce acne causing bacteria. It gets rid of toxins in the blood and thereby clears our skin from the inside out.

Energizes and improves mood

Clean water and fresh squeezed lemon is one of the most well tested energy boosters. The foods we eat provide electrically charged molecules that initiate energy production in our body. Lemons are one of the only foods that carry very strong negative charged ions. Once those ions enter the digestive track the result is increased energy levels.

The scent of lemon also has mood enhancing and energizing properties that can brighten our mood and help clear our mind therefore reducing anxiety and depression.

Supports weight loss

Lemons are rich in pectin, a type of fiber commonly found in fruits. Pectin helps you feel full longer and reduces the desire to eat. Drinking a glass of warm lemon water in the morning naturally boosts your metabolism.

This morning ritual has become a healthy daily habit for many people to assist with overall weight loss.
